Why build your own index
Turn a thesis into a tracked index, and know if it beats the market
You have a market thesis but no clean way to express it as a tracked, weighted index. Robo-builders execute trades and gate you behind a brokerage; backtesters are dated and thin on crypto. Indexes owns the middle: build, backtest, and track a named index, stocks and crypto together, no account required.
Turn a thesis into a tracked index
01You have a market thesis, "AI infrastructure", "the ten stocks I actually believe in", "a DeFi basket". Indexes turns it into a named, weighted index you can name, weight, and follow as one object instead of a spreadsheet tab that goes stale the moment prices move.
See how it would have done
02Backtest your index against real market history the moment you build it. Indexes replays it over your chosen window and shows total return, max drawdown, and risk stats, so you understand how the basket would have behaved instead of guessing. Hypothetical historical performance, labeled as such.
Know if you are beating the market
03Chart your index against the S&P 500, the Nasdaq 100, or BTC and watch the gap open or close over time. The dashed benchmark line sits right under your index line, so "am I actually ahead?" stops being a guess and becomes a number, updated daily.
Stocks and crypto in one index
04Modern theses are cross-asset: "AI exposure" spans NVDA and compute tokens. Indexes is one of the only self-serve tools that lets you weight equities and crypto together in a single index and benchmark it against both the S&P 500 and BTC. The gap no one else fills.
How it works
Pick holdings and weights, backtest, then track it daily against your benchmark
Analysis and tracking only. No trades, no brokerage, no money moved, ever.
Pick holdings and set weights
Add the stocks, crypto tokens, or both that express your thesis, then set the weights: market cap, equal weight, or your own custom split. Name the index. No brokerage account, no spreadsheet, no order ever placed.
Backtest against real market history
Indexes replays your index over the history you choose and reports total return, max drawdown, and risk stats. These are hypothetical historical performance figures, labeled as such, so you see how the basket would have behaved, not a prediction.
Track it daily against your benchmark
Follow your index going forward against the S&P 500, the Nasdaq 100, or BTC. The benchmark line sits under your index line so you always know whether you are ahead or behind. Analysis and tracking only, never a trade.
What it does
Build the index, backtest it, benchmark it, and rebalance it
Index builder
Indexes lets you bundle a handful of tickers into one named basket, then set how much weight each holding carries. Build an AI-infrastructure index of chip and cloud names, weight it however you like, and study it side by side with the S&P 500.
Learn more REPLAY - HISTORYBacktesting
Indexes replays your basket through years of real price history so you can see how the weights you chose would have behaved. Backtest an AI-infrastructure index against the S&P 500 and watch both hypothetical growth curves unfold day by day.
Learn more STATS - RISKBacktester
Indexes turns a backtest into readable stats: total return, annualized return, worst drawdown, and volatility for the index you built. See that an AI-infrastructure basket carried a deeper drawdown than the S&P 500 even when its hypothetical return was higher.
Learn more COMPARE - BENCHMARKBenchmarks
Indexes charts your index against the benchmarks that matter, so relative performance is a single glance instead of a spreadsheet. Plot an AI-infrastructure basket over the S&P 500 and see the stretches where the theme led and the stretches where it lagged.
Learn more TRACK - DAILYTracking
Indexes carries your basket forward from the backtest into live tracking, updating each day so you can watch the theme play out going forward. Follow an AI-infrastructure index against the S&P 500 and see how it moves this week, this month, this quarter.
Learn more CRYPTO - BASKETCrypto baskets
Indexes lets you bundle several coins into one weighted basket, backtest it, and monitor it against BTC day by day. Build a Layer 1 majors index, weight it by market cap, and study how the group moved against Bitcoin over the last cycle.
Learn more WEIGHT - YOUR WAYWeighting
Indexes lets you switch your basket between market cap, equal weight, and your own custom weights, then backtest each to compare. See how an equal-weight AI-infrastructure index behaved differently from a market-cap version against the S&P 500.
Learn more REBALANCE - ON SCHEDULERebalancing
Indexes lets you set a rebalancing schedule so your basket resets to its target weights instead of drifting, then backtests the difference. See how quarterly rebalancing changed an AI-infrastructure index versus letting the winners run against the S&P 500.

Drive it yourself
Load a theme, reweight it, race it against the benchmark
Pick a starter index and watch the holdings weight up, the index line and the dashed benchmark race across the chart, and the stats settle. One index deliberately trails the benchmark, because not every index wins, and the tool shows that plainly. Illustrative sample data.

FAQ
Is this investment advice, and can I really mix stocks and crypto?
No. Indexes is an informational and educational tool only and does not constitute investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security or asset. It never holds funds, executes trades, or connects to a brokerage account. It is a sandbox for market ideas: you build, backtest, and track a basket you define, and you decide separately what to do with the insight. Because it is analyze-only, with no money and no execution, it is globally accessible with no US-brokerage gate and no account minimum.
Yes, and that is the point. You can bundle equities and crypto tokens into one weighted index and benchmark it against the S&P 500 or BTC. Self-serve tools that handle both asset classes together are almost nonexistent: stock builders are equities only, and crypto tools are crypto only. Indexes lets you express a cross-asset thesis, such as AI exposure spanning NVDA and compute tokens, as a single tracked index.
They can be, and we are honest about it. Backtests show hypothetical historical performance, labeled as such, with the modeling assumptions disclosed, such as rebalance frequency and whether fees, dividends, or staking are modeled. The tool is for understanding how a basket would have behaved, not for predicting returns. Past performance does not guarantee future results, and the demo deliberately includes an index that trails its benchmark.
A spreadsheet can weight tickers, but it goes stale the moment prices move, cannot cleanly pull multi-asset history for a backtest, mishandles rebalancing and crypto, and cannot chart your index against a live benchmark. Indexes is the spreadsheet you would build if it stayed current, rebalanced itself, and drew the benchmark line for you, and it does all of that in minutes.
Those require funding an account, are typically US only, and put real money at risk by executing trades. Indexes is analyze-first: test and track ideas globally with zero account, then decide separately whether to act. Composer is also stocks and ETFs only, with no crypto, while Indexes handles stocks and crypto together in one index.
Indexes makes the named custom index the hero object, not a buried feature or a one-off backtest. It handles stocks and crypto together, brings build, backtest, and ongoing benchmark tracking into one modern tool, and is self-serve and prosumer-priced. Index One does similar index construction but is sales-gated and built for asset managers; Indexes brings that named-index object to a card-checkout price with no sales call.
